What a puzzle this is - the question asked appears very simple but the variety of responses suggest the complexity of the question.
I am tempted to simply observe that when you have to push your bike or walk for gasoline you will know how far your particular machine will go. And,indeed, you will not likely ever forget how far the reserve will last.
I get about 200 kms on a tank but I would not consider driving more than 10 -15 kms on reserve.
One solid piece of advice I can give you is that if you are on a road run and suddenly you have to go to your reserve tank - cut your speed back immediately to the double nickle or about 80-90 kmph. The reduced RPM's in top gear will really boost the distance you can cover in what really is an emergency reserve.
